interface, input/output devices, and multimedia interfaces. Previously Dr. Kurosu worked in
the Design Center of Hitachi Ltd., where he initiated research and development in usability
engineering and interaction design methodology. Before that, he worked at the Central Research
Institute of Hitachi Ltd., where he was engaged in the development of the Japanese word
processing system and the LISP programming environment.

active participant in ISO 13407, and is editor of ISO 9241-11, ISO/IEC 14598-1 and ISO/IEC 9126-1.
Ian Curson has a Master's degree in Technical Communication and Human-Machine Interaction. He is a
